Wednesday 8th July at The Drum, Aston. Public meeting on Surveillance Cameras
You may have noticed the new CCTV camera on Lozells Rd and in other parts of the city. There is real concern about privacy and public information issues around these cameras. Come to a meeting this evening at 7pm at The Drum opposite the newtown Shopping Centre to hear what you local councillors, MPs, the police and the Safer Birminghasm Partnership have to say. An opportunity foryou to give your views.

Lozells Social Media Surgery: Tuesday 29th September …
Lozells’ third social media surgery will take place on Tuesday 29th September, from 5.30pm until 7.00pm, at the Methodist Church building on the corner of Lozells St and Gerrard St. As ever, the sessions are supported by Raj Rattu, Director of Community Consultancy, and BeVocal.org.uk.

We are now reached the Preferred Options, which have been informed by previous rounds of consultation in 2005 (Newsletter 1 – Issues and Objectives) and 2007 (Newsletter 2 – Issues and Options).
Once again, you have a chance to influence the development of a long-term plan for the area by joining us at any of the consultation events!
Local PCSO wins Birmingham award
Local Police Community Support Officer Robert Capella has been recognsied for his exceptional work in the Lozells area winning the United Streets of Birmingham Community Award.
Always a friendly face that is both well known and high ly regarded in the community, Rob works in the Lozells Neighbourhood Police team and has been in post for 3 years. He was nominated by Cllr Hussain and Cannon Jemima Prasadam, Priest in Charge of St Pauls and St Silas Church. Rob’s award was for his outstanding commitment to the environmental issues in the Lozells area.
Rob attended the formal reception at Birmingham Council House on Wednesday 9 September where he beat other short listed candidates in the category ‘Above and byond’.

Lozells Neighbourhood Policing team were also recognised for their contribution to making a difference in the community at the ceremony, receiving a crystal trophy and certificate.
Inspector Corfield said ‘I am pleased for both rob and the Lozells Policing team – they work tirelessly with partners and our community to ensure they provide the very best policing service. Both were worthy submissions – and it is great to see that our community support and acknowldege the work we are carrying out’
