Climate Change Festival
| May 31, 2008 9:00 am | to | June 9, 2008 4:00 pm |
The spotlight will turn on Birmingham this summer when it hosts the Uk’s first Climate Change Festival this June.
The festival is being organised by Birmingham City Council together with the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) because the ways in which we design and use our city has a big impact on climate change, Birmingham is the showcase city for an event that will roll out across the other big cities in England in 2009 and go international in 2010.
The focus of the festival is about how the design and management of buildings, spaces and places, which currently contribute half of all national emissions can also be part of the solution. There is a lot of good work going on but it is largely invisible to the public ( rather like climate change itself). With the festival we aim to make the invisible visible!
So, from the 31st of May to 9th June 2008, there will be a range of activities attracting Community Participation throughout the week, in Birmingham City Centre and around the city. You are invited to join in our activities throughout the week, the main areas for activity will be Centenary Square and Victoria Square.
Should you wish to participate or showcase your organisation in some way we have a large number of stalls available for you to use, free of charge throughout the week.
If you are interested please contact the Birmingham Cutting CO2 Officer either via email to this address: Christine.mills@birmingham.gov.uk or by phone on: 0121 675 5784 for your information pack.
The information pack will give you an idea of activities taking place so far.
Feel free to be as innovative as you like, there is space not only for a stall but for the showcase of products and services your organisation may provide as well.
