Uniting Communities – Badminton Championships

The Bidgely Power Badminton Tournament will take place on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th October at the National Indoor Arena.
There are several categories for all ages with prizes for winners and runners up in each class.

Urban Living Community Chest Grants
Are you interested in making a difference in your community?
If so, you can apply for a grant to help you make a difference to your neighbourhood!
Urban Living Community Chest can provide grants of £1,000 to £10,000 for projects that bring together people from different communities or cultures who otherwise would not have been engaged together. The deadline for applications is 13 October 2008.

Nursery Road – incidents’ up-date
Local people in Lozells will be aware that there have recently been a number of incidents involving firearms in Nursery Road. Following offences committed in the area of Nursery Road on 10 September, 2 men have been arrested and charged with attempted murder.
A further firearms offence was committed in Nursery Road on 15 September at approximately 12.50pm. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, but it is not believed to be connected to the offence above.
West Midlands police are dedicated toward taking swift and decisive action to reduce violent offending of this nature. Extra resources have therefore been deployed to the area to provide increased reassurance. Information is being delivered to 1200 households and businesses around Nursery Road as well as the local schools and community centres.
A Domehawk CCTV camera has been set up and is in place monitoring activities in Nursery Road.
The Police have stressed that information from the public plays a crucial role in bringing offenders to justice.

Lozells Community Awards

On Wednesday 22nd October 2008 Lozells will be hosting its very own Community Awards Ceremony. It will be an opportunity to thank and reward all those hard working individuals who have helped make Lozells a Safer Cleaner and Greener place in which to live, work and socialise in.
A total of 10 Awards will be presented to members of the community and organisations who have been recognised for their outstanding achievements and contributions. This event will showcase the best of our community and what it has to offer encouraging more people to take pride in the place, which they call home.
Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
