Community Events – great success

Lozells had the opportunity twice last week to showcase all the positive things about our community.

On Wednesday evening our Awards Ceremony was attended by over 240 guests, who enjoyed a dinner and an evening of stunning entertainment. The public spirited heroes of Lozells were given their true recognition at a gala evening held at St Francis Hall in Wretham Road. The evening was opened by Cllr Mahmood Hussain and hosted by DJ Manni Massi from Radio XL and local celebrities – including BBCs Ashley Blake – helped to present the awards and give the evening a really special feel.

On Saturday we held our Community Networking Day in association with the Lime Tree Children’s Centre. The event was held at Mayfield School and local people were welcomed by Cllr Mahmood Hussain. Loads of information about local services and new developments such as planned housing regeneration was made available. And there were lots of fun things for kids to do – including face painting, bouncy castle and Big Dom, the ever popular clown with his wide range of tricks. The Animal Man also held kids spellbound as they had the opportunity to handle snakes, spiders and even a scorpion!

Cllr Kim Brom, Chair of the Neighbourhood Management Board commented “Lozells really has so much to be proud about and the great community spirit – which has always been the hallmark of the neighbourhood – really was on display at both these community events”.

Photos and details of award winners will be posted here shortly.
