Lozells Community meeting report
The Lozells Community meeting held on Wednesday 27 January was again a well attended affair. Tea and biscuits before the main meeting gave people a chance to mingle and chat informally. Sgt Chris Doody opened the main meeting with a report on policing issues. Once key concern for local people has been the spate of stabbings – which though minor are obviously frightening and worrying. Sgt Doody was able to assure the meeting that the case is being investigated as a major incident and that a profile of the perpetrator is being developed. He advised people to exercise caution when walking out after dark and to work with the police to report any suspicions or concerns.
The meeting then heard from Deborah Parsons, our Environmental Warden. She was able to report a number of successes in relation to areas of derelict land which have recently been cleared in response to enforcement notices. There was a discussion Read the rest of this entry »
Resident drop-in session
| February 4, 2010 | ||
| 2:30 pm | to | 5:30 pm |
As part of the work developed through Neighbourhood Management, an Environment Charter for Lozells is being developed. This Charter will spell out the rights and responsibilities of everyone living and working in Lozells and help us to all work together to make the area Cleaner, Safer and Greener!
As part of the process, a resident drop-in session is being held on Thursday 4 February. This will be a chance for local people to comment on the issues that are important to them (over a cup of tea and a biscuit!!)
The work on the Neighbourhood Charter is being led by Birmingham City Council working with Keep Britain Tidy. Other agencies including Police service and Fire Service, as well as local people, will all have their part to play in developing – and then sticking to – the Charter.
The event takes place on 4 February at St Pauls and St Silas Church, 80 Lozells Road, B19 2TD between 2.30pm and 5.30pm. All welcome!!
If you can’t get along to the event, but would like to participate in the process, you are welcome to email lozellscharter@keepbritaintidy.org
NHS Constitution – addtional patients rights
In January 2009 an NHS constitution was published which includes 25 patients’ rights, all of which are underpinned by law and are legally enforceable.
The Department of Health is currently consluting on some new patients’ rights and is seeking views on them. The Heart of Birmingham PCT (which covers our area in Lozells) is keen to encourage people to get involved in the consultation process – with responses required by 30 January.
