Handsworth Arts Walk, Twitter, Milkfloat… can you help?
| July 24, 2009 | to | July 26, 2009 |
What links Come:unity Arts’ Handsworth Arts Walk with Twitter and a milkfloat?
More about that later — first, some information about the planned event from Sharon Morgan:
Come:unity arts is organising an Artwalk event, planned for July 24th – 26th 2009, which is going to be quite brilliant! Come:unity Arts is organising local artists to exhibit and perform in local spaces and different community venues in Handsworth & Lozells. It started off as quite a small project and has expanded organically – which is great.
Confirmed so far are:
- a poet – tea event which will involve high tea and poetry in a flower garden.
- a children’s round the world story session in Waverhill Park
- the Come:unity milk float will be driving around the area delivering arty projects
- live music acts on Villa & Soho Road
The project needs help with the following:
We want to be inclusive and reflect Handsworth’s creativity. We would like to advertise to the local community for
- exhibitors,
- performers
- artists who will be willing to talk about their work or would be able to run a one or two hour workshop for children and families.
We are also looking for a couple of people to give us their front rooms as exhibition spaces or performances spaces over the weekend and links to community groups, community leaders who would be able to get the information out to as many people as possible.
So what’s this all got to do with Twitter? Well Come:unity Arts managed to find the milkfloat, mentioned above, by putting out an appeal on Twitter!
