This Saturday in Handsworth Park

I went to this event last year and it was a fun, laid back  event in beautiful Handsworth Park, just the place to chill on a  summer’s afternoon. Its a free, family event with workshops for all ages. The music bill features Ken  Boothe, an internationally acclaimed reggae star from Jamaica. Don’t miss this year’s show this Saturday.

More Paintings from our local artist in residence – Eddy at Lozells Methodist Church Centre.

Eddy is an artist working & living in Lozells, he is currently the “artist in residence” at the lozells Methodist Community Centre – see www.lozellsmc.co.uk . He & members of the Lozells community are participating in an art project to produce a large community based mural and art mobiles. These are to be placed at the foyer of the community centre.

During his residency at Lozells, he will be providing art & crafts classes to children based in & around the Lozells community. This will be done with a view to fostering community integration through the process of cross cultural art development & group work.
His current work attempts to discover and create symbols, images, and colours, that can be interpreted in a cross cultural way. Thus his style is currently, high in symbolism with, a variety of colours and, he utilizes mostly acrylics with other mixed media to meet his artistic objectives.
