Visit the animals at Dudley Zoo during the Easter Holiday. There are hundreds of animals to see, including tigers, monkeys and giraffes. Watch the penguins at feeding time, the sea lions in their enclosure and meet the animals on the farm.

This trip is part-funded by the Lozells Neighbourhood Forum, funded by the West Midlands Police Property Act Fund. Tickets are therefore available at the subsidised price of £5 per adult/child (normally £11.80 for adults and £9.50 for children), and under 3’s go free.

To book your ticket(s), please bring your payment to:

Tuesday 27th March 9.00 -10.00am at Lozells Recreation Group, Graham Street

Friday 30th March 9.15am to 10.15am – Community Room at St Francis School

Please note that spaces are limited, so all tickets will be issued on a first come first served basis. Once booked, tickets will be non-refundable.

If you have any questions, please come along to the registration/payment morning at the time and date outlined above.

A group of organisers will be taking the number 74 bus to the zoo on the morning of the trip. The bus will leave from the Hockley Hill bus stopand will drop off passengers directly outside the zoo entrance. If you would like to join the group on this journey, please notify one of the organisers when handing in your payment so that we can provide you with further information.

All of those taking the bus to the zoo will be responsible for their own travel fare.

Alternatively, you can arrange your own transport/travel to the zoo. Again, if you wish to do so, you must notify one of the organisers so that we can provide you with details of how you can collect your ticket(s).

Lozells Play Days – 22nd & 29th Dec 2011

Enjoying making delicious, healthy sandwiches!

Lozells Play Days has been set up to provide local children with extra
opportunities to engage in fun and play during the school holidays.

The first two sessions took place on the 22nd and 29th of December 2011 at the
Lozells Methodist Centre, and proved to be great fun for all those who attended.

Animal Day was super! We decorated animal masks, made our own delicious
sandwiches and played with lots of toys. Sarah, the Animal Lady came in with a
variety of animals which included Albert the tortoise, Cookie the hedgehog and
Tango the snake. Children were able to learn numerous facts about the different
animals and were given the opportunity to physically handle them.
This was an exciting experience for all and for many of the children, it was their
first animal encounter!

Lack of snow during the Christmas Holidays did not put us off from having some
winter fun. During the second session, children were able to make and dress their
very own snowman, albeit using paper plates and other bits and pieces!
The session was completed with a messy playdough activity and an indoor
riddle hunt that got the brain cells working!! Stickers and sweets were won by all.

Thank you to all those who attended and helped out on the day. Also many thanks
to the local Children’s Centres for allowing us to use their resources.

Lozells Play Days is open to all who live in or around the Lozells area. We welcome
children from birth to 12 years.
Dates, times and details of all future sessions and trips will be posted here soon!

Lozells loves Pudsey – Children in need event – 18th November 2011

Children In Need 2011

Children In Need 2011

Parents & staff of Anglesey & St Francis primary schools together with local businesses, organised a fantastic Children in Need fundraising event on Friday 18th November 2011.
Starting with a Basketball match between the parents & staff of both schools – Anglesey won 12-8! Everyone then went indoors at the LRG for food, stalls, a raffle and an auction.  The whole event raised approximately £1,800!!!

What a nice way to thank Pudsey for all of those known and unknown projects they have funded in our area and abroad!

Thank you to everyone who helped put the event together and took part.

New Site Manager for Life in Lozells

Its goodbye from me Gillian as I am about to start a new role over in Dudley working for the InterFaith Network there. I have been looking after the site for the Lozells Neighbourhood Forum since April. Technically its been a huge learning curve for me but I have enjoyed the process. Now though I am handing over to Alla who has much more skill and lots of ideas for giving the site a real buzz. Please support him by continuing to comment on the articles. Already we have added some fresh authors from the Forum committee. So as well as continuing to get details of local events and opportunities you should soon be seeing a host of new ideas and opinions. I will be logging on myself often to keep up with developments. A big thank you to Hannah at Chamberlain Forum for her support and training and to Jo at Midland Heart also.
Bye….
