Keeping Warm
The Lozells Community meeting last week featured a range of timely information about how to keep warm during the cold weather. There are a range of websites with useful information such as the following:
British Gas Energy Trust offers help to those trapped in a maze of debt:
http://www.britishgasenergytrust.org.uk/
The Severn Trent Trust Fund is an independent grant amking trust

Information about a range of home improvement and other grants:

Special tarrifs for those in need:

Hopefully, with all that information, everyone in Lozells will be tucked in snug and warm for the seasonal break.
All the very best to all for 2010!

Sanna’s blog – day 1
My first day at the Lozells Neighbourhood Management was great and I enjoyed everything.
Today, Kate and I went to the Anchor Housing where we met Ricky the Scheme Manager. At first we sat down and talked about what the Anchor housing is about, what facilities are needed and what could be improved for the future. Ricky provides people with a flat from the ages of 55 and onwards, but they live independently and look after themselves. For example: they have to buy their own furniture and food. Ricky cannot do everything because it is not in his job role – he is there to provide advice and support. I saw some flats and some had not been looked after properly whereas others were beautiful. After talking to Ricky I realised that helping old people can change their lives and make them a better person.
In the Afternoon Kate and I went to the Urban Living offices where they help build new homes for people. At the offices I met a variety of different people with different job roles. Adnan was the Chief Executive of this organisation and Sue and Andrea were the Recepionists. They made me feel welcome. Sue showed me their meeting rooms and pictures taken over the years of different areas and recent ones. Andrea talked to me about what Urban Living is all about. We also talked about ME!
Overall, I think today was fantastic and I have learnt a lot and hopefully everyone can see that Lozells is not a bad area it is a “cool” area to live in. I have learnt so much in one day that I do not think this blog can fit in so I think I will leave the rest for tomorrow seeing as I will be experiencing more new things from different people.
