Lozells Play Days – 22nd & 29th Dec 2011

Enjoying making delicious, healthy sandwiches!

Lozells Play Days has been set up to provide local children with extra
opportunities to engage in fun and play during the school holidays.

The first two sessions took place on the 22nd and 29th of December 2011 at the
Lozells Methodist Centre, and proved to be great fun for all those who attended.

Animal Day was super! We decorated animal masks, made our own delicious
sandwiches and played with lots of toys. Sarah, the Animal Lady came in with a
variety of animals which included Albert the tortoise, Cookie the hedgehog and
Tango the snake. Children were able to learn numerous facts about the different
animals and were given the opportunity to physically handle them.
This was an exciting experience for all and for many of the children, it was their
first animal encounter!

Lack of snow during the Christmas Holidays did not put us off from having some
winter fun. During the second session, children were able to make and dress their
very own snowman, albeit using paper plates and other bits and pieces!
The session was completed with a messy playdough activity and an indoor
riddle hunt that got the brain cells working!! Stickers and sweets were won by all.

Thank you to all those who attended and helped out on the day. Also many thanks
to the local Children’s Centres for allowing us to use their resources.

Lozells Play Days is open to all who live in or around the Lozells area. We welcome
children from birth to 12 years.
Dates, times and details of all future sessions and trips will be posted here soon!

Message from Police Chief Inspector – Keep your young people at home tonight

Please see attached message from Chief Inspector Sean Russell of West Midlands Police.
Tonights activities on the streets of Birmingham City Centre are disgraceful and by no means acceptable as a means of protesting against anything including the death of a gentleman in London with Police involvement and/or disaffection of young people not in employment. It is important that those responsible for bringing our great city of Birmingham into disrepute are bought to justice asap.
Please ensure that your children, family and friends are at home tonight to prevent them getting held up in the middle of disorder in the city.
